Mr. Arata became Chief Executive Officer of Blue Racer Midstream and Caiman Energy II effective April 1, 2015. Mr. Arata joined Caiman II's predecessor, Caiman Energy, as Chief Financial Officer in October 2010. In early 2012, Mr. Arata was a key part of the team that sold Caiman Eastern to Williams Partners (NYSE: WPZ) for $2.5 billion.
Mr. Arata co-founded Caiman Energy II in mid-2012 and was a lead negotiator in the formation of Blue Racer Midstream in late 2012. Mr. Arata is also a board member of both Blue Racer Midstream and Caiman Energy II.
Prior to joining Caiman Energy, Mr. Arata was Chief Financial Officer of Regency Energy Partners (NYSE: RGP) and its privately-held predecessor, Regency Gas Services. During his five years at Regency, Mr. Arata led the effort to take Regency public. As Chief Financial Officer of Regency, Mr. Arata completed eleven mergers, acquisitions and divestitures worth more than $3.6 billion as well as over $4 billion of financing transactions in both the private and public markets.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Arata worked for UBS Investment Bank for nine years in both Dallas, Texas, and in London, England, covering the power and pipeline sectors. At UBS, Mr. Arata advised on more than $40 billion of completed mergers and acquisitions as well as on numerous financings.
Prior to UBS, Mr. Arata spent four years as a consultant at Deloitte Consulting, performing strategic consulting assignments for energy clients.
Mr. Arata received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business from Southern Methodist University. He also holds a Master of Management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
